The fourth international conference Nano Ostrava 2015 took place from 18 to 21 May 2015 in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The conference was chaired by Jaromír Pištora, with Mark H. Rümmeli serving as Vice-Chairman.
The conference provided an international platform for scientists, researchers and industry representatives to exchange knowledge and discuss recent developments in nanomaterials and nanotechnology. The scientific programme focused on advanced materials and their characterisation, nanomaterials for medical applications, nanostructured materials in electronics and optics, nanocarbons, nanocomposites and nanofillers.
The programme featured invited lectures by internationally recognised scientists, including David Rafaja (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany), who addressed phase transitions in metastable compounds influenced by microstructural defects; Paolo Ferruti (University of Milan, Italy), who presented research on polyamidoamine-based nanoparticles for drug and protein delivery; and Henri Jaffrès (Université Paris-Sud/CNRS, France), who focused on electrical spin injection in hybrid semiconductor heterostructures for spin-LEDs and lasers. Other invited speakers included Pavla Čapková (Jan Evangelista Purkyně University, Czech Republic) and Michael Cada (Dalhousie University, Canada), whose lecture explored surface plasmons in semiconductors.
Alongside the invited lectures, the conference offered opportunities for scientific discussions, networking and international collaboration. The programme also envisaged the publication of selected contributions in scientific journals, supporting the dissemination of research findings and further advances in nanomaterials and nanotechnology.
