The first edition of NanoOstrava, an international scientific meeting dedicated to nanomaterials and nanotechnology, took place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from 1 to 4 September 2008. The event brought together researchers, scientists and experts to exchange knowledge, present research findings and discuss developments in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The conference programme featured thematic sessions and plenary lectures covering key areas of nanomaterials research and technological applications. The main topics included nanocatalysts and photocatalysts, polymeric, ceramic and metallic nanocomposites, nanostructured materials for magneto-optics, electronics and photonics, modelling and structural analysis of nanomaterials, nanoparticles and nanopowders. Particular attention was also given to biotechnology applications in nanomaterial fabrication, education and training in nanotechnology, as well as health, safety and environmental risks associated with nanomaterials.
The meeting was organised by the Nanotechnology Centre in cooperation with VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and other academic and research institutions. In addition to the scientific sessions, the event provided opportunities for professional networking, informal discussions and the exchange of ideas among participants.
NanoOstrava 2008 served as a platform for scientific cooperation and interdisciplinary dialogue, contributing to the exchange of expertise and fostering connections within the international nanomaterials and nanotechnology research community.
